About the role

Company:

1st Choice HVAC and Plumbing Inc. – A family-oriented, growing company delivering top-rated residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC services across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Join a supportive team that prioritizes quality craftsmanship, customer relationships, and professional growth.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Plumber to join our team in the Prosper area. This hybrid service and sales role combines hands-on plumbing expertise with consultative selling of water treatment solutions.

You will perform installations, repairs, maintenance, and emergency services while conducting whole-home plumbing inspections and water quality assessments.

A major focus is educating customers on water issues (e.g., hard water impacts on appliances, skin, and plumbing) and closing sales on whole-house filtration, softeners, reverse osmosis systems, and related upgrades—using on-the-spot estimates, water testing demos, and benefit-focused presentations.

Ideal for a skilled, fast-paced plumber who thrives working independently, enjoys building client trust, achieves upsell goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, water heaters, drains, valves, and fittings using hand and power tools.

  • Perform thorough whole-house plumbing inspections and water quality testing (hardness, chlorine, sediments, etc.) to diagnose issues and recommend tailored solutions.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve plumbing problems efficiently to minimize client disruption.

  • Educate customers on plumbing and water quality challenges, presenting customized water treatment options with clear benefit explanations.

  • Conduct consultative sales: demonstrate value, handle objections ethically, provide accurate on-the-spot estimates/quotes (labor, materials, parts, systems), and close deals on upgrades and add-ons.

  • Ensure all work complies with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.

  • Deliver outstanding customer service: explain issues transparently, address concerns, and confirm satisfaction.

  • Maintain detailed job records (materials, work performed, photos/notes, sales follow-ups) via our mobile app.

  • Collaborate with HVAC team members on combined plumbing/HVAC projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of proven plumbing experience (residential/commercial service preferred).

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (no major violations; company-provided take-home truck and fuel card provided).

  • Texas Journeyman Plumber license Required.

  • Proven ability to work at a fast pace in a high-volume service environment while maintaining quality and safety.

  • Strong capability to work independently and autonomously in the field with minimal supervision.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor (clean, well-groomed, and presentable for direct client interactions).

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Proficiency with hand/power tools, blueprint/schematic reading, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Solid knowledge of plumbing pricing structures (labor rates, parts costs, system quotes) for fast, accurate on-site estimating.

  • Comfort and experience with consultative sales: explaining benefits, overcoming objections, ethical closing, and meeting upsell targets.

  • Preferred: Hands-on experience with water testing kits or water treatment products (full training provided if needed).

  • Excellent verbal communication skills for client consultations, quote presentations, and team coordination.

  • Physical capability to handle job demands (lifting up to 50+ lbs, working in confined spaces, crawling, etc.).

  • Bonus: Background in general home maintenance/repairs.

Schedule

  • Primarily Monday–Friday, with some evenings, weekends, or holidays for emergency/on-call rotations (fairly distributed and compensated).

  • Overtime.
