About the role
Experienced Plumbing Technician
NOMAD Plumbing · Boynton Beach & Palm Beach County, FL
NOMAD Plumbing is a local, fully licensed plumbing company serving Palm Beach County and surrounding areas. We're a small but growing, owner-run business that values high-quality work, professionalism and customer care. We handle residential and commercial projects, providing service, remodel and new construction work.
We're looking for an experienced plumbing technician who can run their own calls, take real responsibility, and grow with us. In return, we'll pay you well ($32–$38/hr plus performance bonuses, paid holidays and paid time off), give you a stocked van and the tools you need, put a helper on your crew, and trust you to run your calls day to day.
The Role
This is an experienced hire. After a short ramp-up riding with David (our co-owner and current lead technician) to learn how we operate — our systems, our pricing, our standards — you'll run your own residential service calls and plumbing remodel jobs. You'll ultimately be trusted to handle the majority of residential jobs independently, from diagnosis to quote to finished work.
You'll run a two-person crew with a helper. Having a helper is part of how the role is set up — the helper will be hired after you’re onboarded, but the 2-person model is the standard here, not something you have to earn.
What You'll Do
• Run residential service calls and remodel projects skilfully, professionally and independently.
• Diagnose problems and offer honest, high-quality solutions – no shortcuts.
• Quote and estimate jobs using our price book and pricing guidelines.
• Educate customers — explain the work in plain language and why it matters. Honest guidance, never a hard sell.
• Keep your truck stocked and source the materials your jobs need.
• Lead your crew — direct and mentor your helper on the job.
• Respect the customer's property and leave every space clean.
• Represent NOMAD Plumbing with professionalism, warmth, and integrity.
Where It Can Go
We're a small company, but growing. Over the last couple of years, we've built a positive reputation, a loyal customer base, and a strong contractor network. You would be our first experienced hire.
We're looking for someone who's not only experienced and competent, but also passionate and eager to grow with us. Joining a company at this stage comes with opportunities you won't find at a larger business — as we continue to build, you'll have real room to grow in both your responsibilities and your compensation. The promotion pathway for this position:
• Service Technician — run your own calls and 2-person crew (this role).
• Senior Technician — take on more complex estimating, larger job walk-throughs, and meetings with contractors on bigger projects.
• Project Manager / Field Manager — manage a team and run large projects (remodel, new construction, commercial) as we grow.
What We're Looking For
• An experienced residential service plumber — minimum 5 years — able to handle most jobs independently, with a strong knowledge of Florida plumbing code.
• Commercial experience is beneficial, but not as integral to the role.
• Someone who embodies our core values — integrity first. (See our Core Values document.)
• Someone excited by the opportunity to learn, grow and take on more responsibility as our company expands.
• A valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record (you'll be in a company van).
• Physically able to do the work: lifting, tight spaces, attics and crawlspaces, and Florida heat.
• No individual plumbing license required — you'll work under our state plumbing contractor license.
Compensation & Benefits
• Base Pay: $32–$38/hr depending on experience.
• Performance-based bonuses.
• Company vehicle — we provide your van.
• Company tools — we provide what you need to do the job.
• Paid holidays.
• Paid time off.
How to Apply
Please send your resume and cover letter to info@nomadplumbingservices.com.
This should include your name, number, location (address, or general area/city), work history, skills/strengths, and some information about yourself, and why you’re a good fit.
Please also provide two references (previous employers/co-workers) with their contact details (please ask their permission as we will contact them about your previous work history).
We will review your application, and respond within 10 business days. If you’re what we’re looking for, we’ll reach out to schedule a preliminary interview, otherwise we will let you know that we’re moving in another direction.
We look forward to receiving your application!
Who We're Looking For
NOMAD Plumbing · Core Values
We're looking for people who already take real pride in their craft — technicians who know their trade, and helpers keen to learn it properly. But skill is only part of the picture. Character is part of who a person already is, and it shows up in everything they do. These are the qualities we hire for and strive for at NOMAD — the things that matter most when someone is representing us in a customer's home. Whether you're running your own crew or starting out as a helper, this is the kind of person we want to work alongside.
1. Integrity
Everything else on this list rests on this one — you can't have the others without it. It's how you earn the trust of the customer, and the respect of the team.
• Owns mistakes — if something goes wrong, we'd rather hear it from you first. Everyone makes mistakes, it’s how you make it right that counts.
• Honest with the customer — you recommend the fix they actually need, not the most expensive one. We do business by building lifelong client relationships, not quick cash-grabs.
• Does it right where no one's looking — the same care on the parts that never get inspected as on the ones that do.
• Follows through — you show up when you said you would, do what you said you'd do.
2. High Standards & Pride in Work
We can notice it and reward it, but we can't do it for you.
• Goes beyond “good enough” — the standard of work you'd want in your own home.
• Sweats the small stuff — a clean solder joint, a straight pipe run, a labelled shut-off, even where no one will ever see it.
• Bothered by sloppy work — you fix it because it nags at you, not because someone's watching.
• Doesn't leave until it's tested — runs the fixture, checks for leaks, and confirms the job's right before packing up.
• Leaves the home spotless — old parts cleared out, floors wiped down, no mess left behind.
3. Initiative & Problem-Solving
How you think a problem through, and whether you act on what you see.
• Works the problem before escalating — when something's tricky, you do your best to work it out yourself first.
• Knows when to call for backup — good judgment about when to loop in David — not guessing, and not running to him for everything.
• Sees what needs doing and does it — without waiting to be told.
• Takes pride in carrying your part — real satisfaction in knowing you did your best work and pulled your weight for the team.
4. Growth Mindset & Humility
This goes for all of us. Nobody here, us included, has stopped learning.
• Wants to get better — actively looks for ways to improve rather than settling for good enough.
• Humble enough to be corrected — can ask questions and say “I don't know” instead of faking it.
• Doesn't get defensive about feedback — takes it as something useful, rather than a criticism to fend off.
• Feedback both ways — as cliché as it sounds, you're part of the team here, not just someone we hired. We're building NOMAD Plumbing together, so we genuinely want your take: what's working, what isn't, and what we could do better.
5. Communication
Good communication is what keeps a team and a job running smoothly — and it's as much about listening as talking.
• Communicates proactively — doesn't wait to be chased; keeps the office, crew and (where relevant) customers in the loop on status, delays, and what's happening on site before it becomes a surprise.
• Listens — takes in feedback and other points of view instead of only defending your own.
• Says the hard thing — raises a concern, a disagreement, or bad news directly, even when it'd be easier to stay quiet.
Honorable Mentions
A few things that flow from the values above, but earn a mention of their own.
Professional & Courteous
In someone's home, you are clean, polite, and respectful of the space and everyone in it — even under pressure or at the end of a long day.
Gives grace
Assumes the best of people. A tricky customer is often just worried about the problem or the cost, not being difficult — and the same patience goes for teammates on a hard day.
Reliable
The kind of person the crew and the customer can count on — dependable enough that the whole operation can be built around them.
